Elevated fire risk today for Joplin area

ELEVATED FIRE WEATHER RISK TODAY...
GUSTY SOUTHWEST WINDS...WARMER TEMPERATURES...AND LOW RELATIVE
HUMIDITY VALUES WILL LEAD TO AN ELEVATED FIRE WEATHER RISK THIS
AFTERNOON.
SOUTHWEST WINDS OF 10 TO 20 MPH WILL DEVELOP ACROSS PORTIONS OF
EXTREME SOUTHEASTERN KANSAS AS WELL AS CENTRAL AND SOUTHWESTERN
MISSOURI THIS AFTERNOON. MEANWHILE AFTERNOON RELATIVE HUMIDITY
VALUES WILL DROP INTO THE 25 TO 30 PERCENT RANGE.
THESE CONDITIONS COULD LEAD THE RAPID GROWTH AND SPREAD OF
WILDFIRES ESPECIALLY ACROSS OPEN GRASSLAND.
