Burning towel source of house fire at 3006 S. Joplin

The Joplin Fire Department responded to a reported house fire at 3006 S Joplin Ave at 10:21 AM Saturday, 28 June, 2014. Fire crews arrived on the scene at 10:26 AM to find no smoke showing on the exterior. Upon investigation smoke was found to be coming from a bedroom, whereupon a small fire was discovered near a water heater in a closet. A towel near the water heater had ignited. The fire was quickly extinguished. 

Crews remained on scene until 11:43 AM.


Six fire units and 16 Firefighters responded to the scene, as well as JPD and METS. There were no injuries to responders or civilians.
