Carl Junction plans Flag Day Celebration and Concert

(From the Carl Junction Area Chamber of Commerce)

The Carl Junction Area Chamber of Commerce will host Carl Junction's first ever Flag Day Celebration & Concert on Flag Day, Saturday, June 14. The celebration kicks off at 11 am, in Memorial Park, 405 East Pennell, Carl Junction, Missouri.

The Heartland Concert Band will give a free, one hour concert of patriotic music to celebrate the city's first ever Flag Day celebration to be held under the newly built Jean Roy pavilion. The red, white and blue pavilion project was initiated by the Carl Junction Cultivators Garden Club, and was built by Carl Junction volunteers.

The Heartland Concert Band is a regional favorite, best known for their annual Fourth of July concert at Northpark Mall. The band will be bringing that same patriotic music to Carl Junction, to give an all-American Flag Day celebration at Carl Junction's Memorial Park.

Members of the Carl Junction Cultivators Garden Club will be on hand to explain the memorial bricks that the club is selling, for future placement in Memorial Park. The club members will also be explaining the new search to determine what will become the city's official flower.

Celebration begins Saturday, June 14, at 11 am. Public is encouraged to bring lawn chairs or picnic blanket. Limited seating provided, with priority to those who might have difficulty standing for an hour. No alcohol allowed.
