(From the Joplin Police Department)

We want to remind our citizens and visitors to Joplin about the City Ordinances that pertain to using and possessing fireworks in the City of Joplin.
Fireworks can only be possessed and used in the city limits on July 1st through July 4th. In addition, bottle rockets are not allowed to be possessed or used by anyone at any time in the city limits. More details on the ordinance can be found by visiting https://library.municode.com/index.aspx?clientId=11060 and searching for ordinance 58-65.
We also want to remind everyone about some fireworks safety tips.
• Leave fireworks to adults.
• Take advantage of the many public displays of fireworks that will be in our area.
• Sparklers burn at 1200 degrees Fahrenheit. Glass melts at 900 degrees.
• Make sure that fireworks are pointed in a safe direction and away from houses and trees.
• Never shoot fireworks at people or from a vehicle.
We want everyone to have a safe and happy Independence Day celebration.
