Joplin man arrested for pulling teenage girl into car, lifting her shirt

On June 20, 2014 at 4:28pm Officers with the Joplin Police Department were dispatched to the area of 9th and Pennsylvania in reference to a report of a male forcing a female into a vehicle. A 19 year old female reported that she was walking in the area and noticed a vehicle pass her before turning around and stopping in front of her. As she walked past the stopped vehicle the driver pulled the female into the vehicle, onto his lap. The male also lifted up the victim’s shirt. The victim was able to free herself and run away and call the police.
The victim had a detailed description of the suspect and vehicle, including the license plate. Officers responded to the residence in Joplin where the vehicle checked to and contacted the suspect. Detectives with the Joplin Police Department assisted in the investigation, resulting in the arrest of Gabriel Corral, age 34, of Joplin. Charges were submitted to the Jasper County Prosecutor’s Office for consideration. The Jasper County Prosecutor’s Office filed a charge of False Imprisonment and Sexual Misconduct against Corral. Corral posted bond and was released.
