Two people were injured in a three-car accident 5:15 p.m. Saturday at MO 96 and MO 37 one mile west of Avilla.
According to the Highway Patrol report, an eastbound 1993 Ford F-150 driven by Jessica Cook, 21, Ash Grove lost control on the wet roadway and hit a 2004 Hyundai Accent driven by Anna Belle Maggard, 75, LaRussell, head-on. A 2008 Ford Expedition driven by Casey L. Wiss, 33, Lamar hit the Cook vehicle as it traveled off the left side of the roadway.
Cook received minor injuries and was taken by a private vehicle for treatment at Cox South, Springfield.
Edman C. Maggard, 76, LaRussell, a passenger in the Maggard vehicle, received serious injuries and was treated at Freeman West Hospital, Joplin.
