Work scheduled:
Complete widening pavement along Route 171
Grading work on southeast corner of intersection
Complete building curb and gutter on south side of Route 171 and on the southwest and southeast corners of the intersection
Complete paving work on business entrances in various locations
Weather and/or construction delays will alter the work schedule.
Traffic Impacts:
- Nigthttime lane closings at times between 7 p.m. and 6:30 a.m.
- At least one lane of traffic open in each directions at all times
Project Background:
- Build two-lane roundabout at Route 171/Route 43 intersection in Airport Drive
- Widen Route 171 to five-lanes (two lanes in each direction with a center turn lane) between Route 43 to just east of Fir Road
- Prime Contractor: APAC, Springfield
- Completion Date: August 28, 2014
- Construction Cost: $2.6 million
