New York Times bestselling author Jonathan Haidt will visit TJ on September 21 and 22 as part of the Steven McCollum Distinguished Speakers Series.
The event, featuring a reception and book signing, is scheduled for Monday, Sept. 21, at 7 p.m.
The event is free, and open to students, parents, grandparents, graduates, alumni parents, and friends of the school.
Haidt is a social psychologist recognized internationally for his bestselling books, The Righteous Mind and The Happiness Hypothesis. His research suggests that feelings and emotions trump reason when explaining the moral underpinnings of why people act the way they do. Haidt earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Yale University in 1985 and his Doctor of Philosophy degree from the University of Pennsylvania in 1992. He currently serves as a professor of business ethics at NYU.
