Five injured in three-vehicle accident near Joplin

Five people were injured in a three-vehicle accident 7:15 a.m. today on MO 66 at Central City, one mile west of Joplin.

According to the Highway Patrol report, the crash occurred as a northbound 1997 GMC Yukon driven by Cameran E. Pliler, 16, Joplin, failed to yield and was struck by a 1989 Jeep Cherokee driven by Alicia M. Baker, 30, Joplin. The Baker vehicle overturned. The Pliler vehicle then collided with a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado driven by John C. Sherrod, 45, Joplin. The Pliler vehicle traveled off the left side of the roadway.

Pliler received moderate injuries and a passenger in his vehicle, Calab M. Pliler, 13, Joplin, received serious injuries. Both were treated at Freeman West Hospital, Joplin.

Baker and a passenger in her vehicle, Jazmin L. Baker, 8, received moderate injuries. Another passenger, Alexis Baker, 10, received serious injuries. They were treated at Freeman West Hospital, Joplin.
