Judah and the Lion to perform at MSSU

(From Southern News Service)

Folk-pop band Judah & the Lion will perform at 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 27, in Taylor Performing Arts Center at Missouri Southern State University.

The Nashville, Tenn., band features singer/guitarist Judah Akers, banjo player Nate Zuercher and mandolin player Brian Macdonald. Following up two well-received EPs, the band released their debut studio album, “Kids These Days,” in 2014. It entered Billboard’s Heatseeker chart at No. 2 and the Folk Albums chart at No. 4, with song “Kickin’ da Leaves” making Spotify’s Viral 50 chart.

“This record is filled with energy and a youthful spirit that absolutely encompasses our circumstances,” says Zuercher on the band’s website. “We don’t have much but we’ve got a whole lot of life and passion for what we do and who we are, and we hope that people can grab ahold of that when they hear this record.”

Having recently completed their first headlining tour, Judah & the Lion has performed on Billboard, CMT and “Late Show with David Letterman.”

Presented by the Campus Activities Board, admission is free and open to the public.
