There is a video that is circulating on Facebook Messenger that we have been made aware of. The Southwest Missouri Cyber Crimes Task Force has received two reports about this matter, however, it is a national issue, where citizens are sharing a video of an African American female child, being sexually abused by an African American adult male.
Well intended citizens are forwarding the video with the intent of identifying the adult male, and female child, however, the child has been located and rescued. The adult male is currently in custody for related offenses in another state.
We are asking individuals who have received the video, to not share it and to delete it immediately. Technically, it is a federal violation to possess and/or distribute this file, regardless of the intent, so we just want to inform the public.
If anyone is unsure how to delete the video, they may contact the police department for assistance.
