SCAM ALERT
We have been receiving numerous calls regarding apparent scammers who are stating things like, an incident involving a family member has happened and they need money. Also IRS or Jury Duty Official is issuing a warrant for you unless you pay money to them. They will sometimes attempt to have you wire them money or go to local store to buy gift cards or prepaid cards.
The scammers story deviates occasionally, however we want Carthage Citizens to know that you should never give your personal information including financial account numbers to anyone that you do not know over the phone. We caution you that wiring money and buying the prepaid cards are usually a scam.
