Construction crew, woman help Joplin Police apprehend fleeing suspects

(From the Joplin Police Department)

Incident Spotlight

Yesterday afternoon at 2:10 p.m. an officer recognized a male riding a bicycle at 15th and Indiana that had three felony warrants for his arrest. He went to arrest him and the male took off on the bicycle. A construction crew working at 15th and Michigan observed the incident and captured the male for the officer. We appreciate the lending hand!

Yesterday at 5:40 p.m. officers tried to stop a vehicle at Junge and Maiden Lane and the vehicle fled.

The vehicle wasn't pursued, but another officer saw it turn west on 4th from Maiden Lane and stop at 4th and Winfield and the driver ran on foot.

A female in the 300 block of Winfield ran out to officers and said the male ran into his house. While she was doing so the male ran out the back door. Officers kept looking and found the male hiding on a neighbor's porch under a blanket. He was arrested for burglary, felony probation violation warrant, felony fleeing and driving while revoked.

Yesterday evening at 9:30 p.m. officers went to the area of 19th and Illinois to arrest a fugitive who had a U.S. Marshal's warrant. They approached and saw the male outside who ran back into the house. After surrounding the house and calling him out he surrendered and was taken to jail.
