DWI charge filed after five people, including Lamar woman, Mount Vernon chlldren injured in four-vehicle crash on I-44

A Summersville trucker was cited for driving while intoxicated following a four-vehicle accident in which five people were injured 3:30 p.m. Monday on I-44, three miles east of Sarcoxie.

According to the Highway Patrol report, a 2002 GMC 2500 driven by Nathan V. Dostal, 32, Mount Vernon, was slowing for traffic congestion when it was struck in the rear by a 2000 Peterbilt driven by Charles L. Summers, 61, Summersville. The Dostal vehicle was pushed into a 2008 Chevrolet Tahoe driven by Dale R. Haury, 59, Wichita, Kansas. The Summers vehicle crossed the center line and struck a 2003 Ford Taurus driven by Rodney A. Schmoranz, 61, Lamar.

Dostal and three passengers in his vehicle, Angela M. Dostal, 32, Hadley G. Dostal. 7, and Harper E. Dostal, 4, all of Mount Vernon were treated for moderate injuries at Mercy Hospital, Springfield,

A passenger in the Schmoranz vehicle, Robin L. Schomoranz, 55, Lamar, was treated for moderate injuries at Mercy Hospital, Joplin.
