(From the Joplin Police Department)

Incident Spotlight

On Saturday morning at 3:10 a.m. an officer saw a vehicle at 7th and Schifferdecker that matched the description of a vehicle that we were told would be carrying drugs through town.

The officer stopped the vehicle at Perkins and Schifferdecker after observing it driving 47 miles per hour in a 35 mile per hour zone and for lane use.

With the assistance of a K9, a loaded handgun was found in the vehicle along with a folded $1 bill that contained three rocks of crystal meth with a weight of 2.5 grams.

The male driver was arrested and transported to the jail, where a large baggie was found in his underwear. The bag contained another 20 grams of crystal meth. The driver was booked for felony drug and weapons charges.
