Joplin Police Department provides update on manpower status

We have received several requests on the status of current manpower in our department:

18 – Vacant Officer Positions
1 – In House Academy (next is Field Training (F.T.O.))
2 – in Field Training
2 – Waiting to attend Academy (then in house, then F.T.O)
5 – Medical Leave and or Light Duty


28 Total classified as manpower loss.

-2 Others have start dates later this week, one of which is today. Both will need to attend the academy, then in house training and then FTO.

84 Available for Duty of the 112 Authorized Sworn Positions

Timeframes:
-Academy is approximately 17 weeks at MSSU.
-In House Academy is approximately 6 weeks at our training center.
-FTO is usually 12-14 weeks long

We are testing on September 15, 2018, full details will be released later. Those with POST Certification and or experience are priority hires to fill our 18 vacancies.
