Joplin, Redings Mill fire department developing swift water rescue capabilities

(From the Joplin Fire Department)

The Joplin Fire Department, partnering with the Redings Mill Fire Protection District, is in the beginning phases of developing swift water rescue capabilities utilizing homeland security grant funding.

The Joplin Fire Department will have a 10-person rescue team and a rescue boat in order to conduct water rescue operations.

Driver/Engineer Kolby Tucker and Firefighter Joshua Jones recently completed the highly intensive and physical training required to become swift water rescue technicians at Lake Taneycomo.
