(From the City of Joplin)
The public is invited to an Open House of the new Senior Center on Thursday, August 16. The event runs from 2 to 4 p.m. and a ribbon cutting with the Joplin Area Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors is set for 2:15 p.m. Everyone is welcome to tour the facility, visit with staff about this new center and enjoy refreshments during the event.
With 14,400 square feet, this Senior Center, 2616 South Picher, just east of Mercy Park, offers more space than the previous facility on Jackson Avenue that had 9,000 square feet. During the open house, citizens are encouraged to tour the facility and talk with staff about some of the programs and activities offered.
