Trucker arrested for DWI, five felonies after leading Highway Patrol on chase from Vernon County into Barton County

On December 5th 2018 at around 8:43 a.m. the Barton County Sheriff's Office was advised by the Missouri State Highway Patrol that a trooper was trying to conduct a traffic stop on a semi truck that was traveling southbound on I-49 Highway in Vernon County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol advised that the semi was failing to stop for the trooper and the trooper was pursuing the semi. 

The pursuit traveled several miles in Barton County on I-49 Highway. The pursuit eventually stopped at approximately the 72 mile marker after spikes was used.





One subject was taken into custody by the Missouri State Highway Patrol troopers. The investigation in the case is being conducted by the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

(The Highway Patrol arrest report shows that Adam Gier, 33, Kansas City, is the man who was arrested on the following charges: Felony tampering with a motor vehicle, felony assault first degree (special victim), felony resisting arrest, felony driving while revoked, felony Clay County warrant fot tampering, driving while intoxicated, failure to yield to emergency vehicle, careless and imprudent driving, failure to stop for stop sign (two counts), littering, speeding.
