Joplin man arrested on burglary, robbery, weapons charges following reported shooting incident at 1830 S. Indiana

On May 8, 2019 at 4:33am the Joplin Police Department responded to 1830 South Indiana in reference to a shooting.

Officers arrived and noticed the front door to the residence had been kicked in. The victims were contacted and stated they heard someone kicking in the front door to the residence.

A masked intruder entered the residence demanding money from the two victims, before firing a gun in the residence and fleeing in a vehicle.

The victims identified the suspect by his voice and other circumstances as an acquaintance that they knew.








Officers responded to the last known address for the suspect at 2302 South Wall. At 4:46am, 13 minutes after the call, the suspect was located in the passenger seat in a vehicle at 23rd and Wall in possession of two handguns.

He was arrested for a misdemeanor Joplin warrant and 1st Degree Burglary, 1 Degree Attempted Robbery, Armed Criminal Action and Unlawful use of a Weapon.

All charges are being submitted to the Jasper County Prosecutor’s Office.

The suspect is identified as Bradley D. Powell, 21, Joplin. No injuries occurred in this incident.
