Carl Junction man charged with felony DWI following injury accident on 171 while awaiting trial for March DWI

A Carl Junction man was charged with felony driving while intoxicated following a two-vehicle injury accident 9:35 p.m. Friday on MO 171, two miles north of Asbury.

According to the Highway Patrol report, a 2004 Mazda CX5 driven by Brian W. Vance, 54, Carl Junction, struck the rear of a 2003 Dodge Durango driven by Kimberly J. Woodall, 50, Fort Scott, Kansas, which was stopped in a turning lane waiting for traffic to clear.








Woodall was treated for minor injuries at Freeman West Hospital, Joplin.

Vance, in addition to the DWI, was cited for careless and imprudent driving and for not having insurance or a driver's license.

On March 8, the Jasper County Sheriff's Office arrested Vance for driving while intoxicated, according to Jasper County Circuit Court online records. His next hearing in that case is scheduled for 10 a.m. August 25.
