On January 27th, 2018 at approximately 5:32pm:
One of our Sarcoxie officers responded to a possible underage party.
Upon arrival, the officer could identify the smell of marijuana coming from the residence. The Officer was allowed inside the residence and observed eight juveniles at the party. The Officer seized 3 grams of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. The Juvenile Office was contacted and citations for possession of marijuana were given to the juveniles. All of the juveniles were released to legal guardians.
Since this is a touchy subject, RSMO 579.015 (Possession of a Controlled Substance) is the law marijuana falls under and Missouri still sees marijuana as an Illegal Narcotic. Sarcoxie Police will uphold the law to the best of our ability, until Missouri says otherwise on this subject.
