Winter weather advisory issued for Joplin area, freezing rain, sleet, snow possible

...Wintry Weather Late Today and This evening...

.More winter weather will push into the area late this afternoon
into tonight. Precipitation may begin as rain across southern
Missouri early on and then change over to freezing rain as
temperatures fall below freezing this evening. Further northwest,
lesser amounts of freezing rain and freezing drizzle are expected.
Light snow will be confined to portions of central Missouri where
only trace amounts up to a half inch are expected. Precipitation
will end late this evening into the overnight hours.

...WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 2 PM THIS AFTERNOON TO
6 AM CST WEDNESDAY...

* WHAT...Mixed precipitation expected. Total snow accumulations of
  up to one half inch and ice accumulations of around one tenth
  are expected. Higher amounts of ice from 0.15 to 0.20 inches
  will be possible over south central Missouri.

* WHERE...Portions of southeast Kansas and central, east central,
   south central, southwest and west central Missouri.

* WHEN...From 2 PM this afternoon to 6 AM CST Wednesday.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The ice will result in difficult travel
  conditions. Be prepared for reduced visibilities at times.

A Winter Weather Advisory means that periods of snow, sleet or
freezing rain will cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for
slippery roads and limited visibilities, and use caution while
