City of Joplin mails recycling and waste disposal guide

City of Joplin residents recently received the annual issue of “Recycling and Waste Disposal Guide,” in their mailboxes. This guide provides information on Joplin’s optional curbside recycling service for single-family houses and duplexes, rules and guidelines for Joplin residential trash service, important phone numbers, schedules, pricing, and the transfer station bulky-items subsidy program.

Traditional recycling venues for batteries, cardboard, electronics, container glass, chemicals, metal, paper, pallets, and plastic bottle are listed. Disposal of unusual items such as cooking oil, medications, sharps (needles, syringes, lancets) and Christmas trees are outlined as well. Information can also be found regarding building materials at the Habitat for Humanity ReStore, and small business curbside recycling via Joplin Workshops, Inc.

The City encourages residents to keep the guide for future reference. The guide is mailed to every residential postal customer in a citywide mailing. Some residents living outside of Joplin may also receive the guide because some 64801 and 64804 zip codes incorporate residences inside and outside city limits. If you do not receive a guide, one can be mailed to you by calling 417-624-0820, extension 501.

Information in the guide except for Joplin residential trash service is appropriate for non-residents.
