New Lamar city administrator begins job Monday

(From the City of Lamar)

In a special council session held Monday evening, April 23rd 2018, the council approved the appointment of long time Lamar resident David “Russ” Worsley as the next City Administrator. Russ is a graduate of Southwest Missouri State University where he obtained a degree in Industrial Management Technology and has a long record of success in his business ventures. Currently Russ serves as the Executive Vice President and Partner of Redneck Outdoor Products. He has also held executive positions with Versa Court International, RSI Home Products, and O’Sullivan Industries.

Russ, was appointed to fill the position which was vacated March 15th, 2018, when Lynn Calton retired after a 27-year tenure.

The City is excited to see what new and innovated processes Russ will bring to the position to help move Lamar forward. Lamar, which owns and operates its own utilities and seeking to grow through economic development, is striving to improve services and attract new business. The council felt Russ was a good fit for that position given his track record and working knowledge of the community.

Russ stated he has been interested in this position for a long time and felt this was the right time to make the transition.

Russ, will begin his new role as the City Administrator on May 14th. A public reception is being planned and will be announced at a later date.
