Noel woman charged with felony DWI following accident, 10-year-old airlifted to Springfield hospital

A Noel woman was charged with felony driving while intoxicated following a one-vehicle accident 6:30 p.m. Sunday on MO 90, one mile west of Noel.

According to the Highway Patrol report, a 2006 Hyundai Sonata driven by Ihda Benjamin, 40, Noel, traveled off the right side of the roadway and overturned.

A passenger, Riana Etwart, 10, Noel, was airlifted to Cox South Hospital, Springfield, with serious injuries.

Benjamin was treated for moderate injuries and another passenger, Arlinda Kullion, 19, Noel, for minor injuries at Freeman West Hospital, Joplin.

In addition to DWI, Benjamin was cited for careless and imprudent driving causing an accident and failure to secure a child in a properly fastened restraint.
