Dr. Jenny Yang Cropp, a poet and assistant professor of English at Southeast Missouri State University, will visit the campus of Missouri Southern State University for a series of events on Thursday, Nov. 15, and Friday, Nov. 16.
Cropp will present a poetry workshop, “Revising the Personal into Poetry,” from 3 to 4 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 15, in Room 413A of Spiva Library. She will offer a poetry reading from 7 to 8 p.m. that evening in the same location.
Both events are free and open to the public.
Students are invited to attend a “Coffee with a Writer” event from 10 a.m. to noon Friday, Nov. 16, in the Saltzman Reading Room of Kuhn Annex. Cropp will be on hand to provide information about obtaining a Master of Arts in Professional Writing.
Cropp, a Korean American poet from Oklahoma, released her first full-length collection of poems, “String Theory,” in 2015. She is also the author of two chapbooks, “Not a Bird or a Flower” (2018) and “Hanging the Moon” (2010). She serves as the poetry editor for Big Muddy at SEMO.
