Miami man dies after having medical emergency while driving on I-44 in Joplin

On November 18, 2018 at 5:54 p.m, the Joplin Police Department responded to I-44 Westbound at the 2.4 mile marker for a single vehicle crash.

A 2007 Chevy Silverado was being driven westbound by Bruce A. Smith, 37, Miami, Oklahoma. 

Smith had a medical emergency and left the roadway and struck a center guardrail and came to rest. 

Smith was transported to a local hospital where he died. Two passengers in Smith’s vehicle were not injured.
