Joplin area law enforcement officers make six DWI arrests, bring new meaning to hot pursuit

The Joplin Police Department and other area law enforcement agencies made six DWI arrests during a crackdown Saturday night and JPD posted the arrests and other information on its Facebook page beginning with a post from about 12 hours ago and continuing through the evening:

One of our officers attempted to stop a vehicle and it fled.

The driver drove through a yard and drove at the officer. A pursuit was initiated and the vehicle crashed at 5th and Michigan.

The driver was rescued from the car by officers as natural gas spewed from a broken main. (Photo at left)

The driver is being transported for injuries from the crash and further investigation is underway.

Folks you were warned. DWI arrest in Webb. There are officers out all over the area. There’s no excuse.

A deputy with the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office that is helping us tonight just made a DWI arrest west of 7th and Schifferdecker. A passenger was arrested for a warrant.

The pursuit driver is being treated for broken bones and was found to have run to avoid being found out of Louisiana since his probation states he can’t leave the state. He wasn’t impaired and charges are pending.

We now have two DWI arrests on the night from our group of officers. The night is young!

Not a DWI but...

Car stop at 2nd and Main, male gave a false name.

Webb City Missouri Police Department used a fingerprint scanner to properly identify him and send him to jail with the correct name. He lied to hide a warrant.

Eight hours ago

DWI arrest in Webb City and at 7th and Willard.

All of the transparency about being out and yet arrests for DWI are picking up.

It’s simply not worth all the consequences. A tow bill, personal embarrassment when friends and family find out, court costs, attorney fees, civil repercussions, missed wages from taking time off work for court, loss of a job, no drivers license. It’s not worth it!

Drive sober or get pulled over!

DWI arrest #5

A Joplin Officer just made a DWI arrest at 7th and Maiden Lane to the west. Although 5 is too many, we are encouraged by how many DD’s and ride services we have came across tonight.

DWI arrest #6

We were almost done, but a Joplin Officer working this enforcement just arrested a female driver at 32 and Main for DWI just after 3am.

Thanks again to everyone celebrating tonight who made good choices. Thanks to everyone else who followed along.
