Missouri Southern broadcast students receive state awards

A number of students involved with KGCS-TV and KXMS-FM at Missouri Southern State University have received awards from the Missouri Broadcast Educators Association. The recognition is part of the annual MBEA media competition program, involving colleges and universities from around the state.

The students won one award in the audio category and four awards for video work.

“We’re proud of our students and the awards received,” said Judy Stiles, KGCS-TV General Manager. “It shows that the hands-on work is a valuable part of their education and contribution to our broadcast operations.”








The awards are as follows:

Audio – Sport Show (First Place)

“The Jungle Segment 1 KXMS Radio 88.7”

Video – PSA (Second Place)

“KGCS-TV Student Legal IDs Oct. 2018”

Lauren Brown, Alyssa Brown

The awards will be presented at the MBEA Spring Conference in Springfield on Saturday, April 13.

KGCS-TV and KXMS-FM operate as services of the communication department at Missouri Southern State University.
