Presentation at MSSU to focus on family's experience with autism

(From Southern News Service)

Derek and Dylan Volk will present “Chasing the Rabbit: A Father’s and Son’s Journey Living with Autism” at 6 p.m. Wednesday, March 13, in Webster Hall’s Corley Auditorium at Missouri Southern State University.

Sponsored by the Northeast Oklahoma Tribal CCDF Programs and Missouri Southern’s Lion Cub Academy, the session will highlight the family’s challenges and triumphs following Dylan’s Asperger’s Syndrome diagnosis. They will share stories and information from their unique perspectives.

Derek Volk is the author of “Chasing the Rabbit: A Dad’s Life Raising a Son on the Spectrum,” which his son co-authored. He will address the many challenges of parenting a child on the spectrum, while Dylan will share how he transitioned into the “real world” as a young adult and pursuing his dream career in comedy.

Admission is free and open to the public. The first 300 people in attendance will receive a free book.
