Crowder College earned gold honors for their Poster Series entry in the 2018 Paragon Awards presented at the National Council of Marketing and Public Relations conference last week in San Antonio, TX.

Submission of the poster series “Crowder Cares” was done last fall after the college won the district competition. The Crowder Cares campaign was intended to encourage faculty, staff, and students to voluntarily report a student who may be in distress and may need some form of support.

“The Crowder College Public Information office did an outstanding job developing the “Crowder Cares” awareness campaign. The posters were very effective and light-hearted while prompting others to report students in distress,” commented Tiffany Slinkard, Vice President of Student Affairs.

“It was very humbling and rewarding to see the hard work of our team pay off,” stated Cindy Brown, Director of Public Information. The Public Information office is responsible for the marketing and public relations of the college.

The top three finalists were ranked and displayed during the awards ceremony at the conference. The judge’s comments for the gold winner were read during the video. Crowder’s entry received the following comments, "Clean and simple, these posters pop! The message is clear, the graphics eye-catching and inviting, and the overall presentation clever. This is a subject that is difficult to connect with students, but this series reaches out in a non-aggressive and fun way."

NCMPR’s prestigious Paragon Awards recognize outstanding achievement in design and communication at community and technical colleges. It’s the only national competition of its kind that honors excellence exclusively among marketing and PR professionals at two-year colleges.

This year’s competition drew 1,939 entries from 262 colleges across the United States and Canada.
