An upcoming Newsmakers program will discuss stormwater issues within the Joplin and how illicit discharge affects the system.
Host Judy Stiles talks with Mary Anne Phillips, stormwater education coordinator for the City, to learn about keeping storm drains clear of trash and pollutants so not to affect our local streams. Phillips reminds viewers that these streams are the same ones that provide drinking water for many communities as well as provide wildlife habitat.
The interview will air on KGCS-TV throughout the week of April 14, at 5:30 p.m. It is also scheduled to air at 5:30 a.m., Saturday, April 20 on KOAM
It can also be viewed on the KGCS YouTube site, at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2qV3S3Xhev4
Newsmakers is produced by KGCS-TV, a service of the Department of Communication at Missouri Southern State University. Programming may be seen over-the-air on digital channel 22 and on regional cable television systems, including Cable One, Mediacom and Suddenlink.
