The Southern Symphonic Chorus and the Southern Symphony Orchestra will present a choral/orchestral Masterwork Series performance at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 7, at Central Christian Center, 410 S. Virginia Ave.
The concert will feature performances of John Rutter’s “Requiem” and Ralph Vaughan Williams’ “Te Deum in G,” said Dr. David Sharlow, director of choral activities at Missouri Southern State University.
“It will feature the combined orchestra and choirs,” he said. “We entitled it the Masterwork Series because every spring, the choirs and orchestra perform the major works of the choral and orchestral repertoire.”
The concert will also feature performances by orchestra, which is under the direction of Canes Nicolas, and the university’s Chamber Singers.
“Requiem” will be performed by the chorus at New York City’s famed Carnegie Hall in June, with Sharlow serving as an invited guest conductor.
Admission to Sunday’s concert is free and open to the public.
