Southern Theatre to stage collection of one-act plays

Southern Theatre will present “These Things Fall Apart” Monday, April 22, through Saturday, April 27, in Bud Walton Theatre at Missouri Southern State University.

The collection of one-act plays was selected by students in the Directing II class. They spent the first half of the semester creating a concept for their chosen play and writing an analysis. After two nights of auditions, the second half of the semester has been dedicated to directing the plays.

Some selections are comedic, while others are dramatic. All are recommended for mature audiences only. They will be presented in repertory style over six nights. Curtain time will be 7:30 p.m.

April 22 & 25: “The Zoo Story, by Edward Albee, directed by Allison Dodge; “Abra Cadaver,” by John Materra, directed by Bailee Lewis.








April 23 & 26: “The Birthday Present,” by Peter Brook, directed by Chelsie Jeffries; “Sure Thing,” by David Ives, directed by Damon Fox; and “Tell Me Another Story, Sing Me a Song,” by Jean Lenox Toddie, directed by Klaire Hardy.

April 24 & 27: “Enemies,” by Neith Boyce and Hutchins Hapgood, directed by Kayley Baumhover; “A Game,” by Dennis E. Noble, directed by Austin Henady; and “The Actor’s Nightmare,” by Christopher Durang, directed by Carly Bell.

Admission is free, and seating is on a first-come, first-served basis. Seating will begin at 6:30 p.m. each evening.
