Nevada man flown to Mercy Joplin after train hits stopped car on tracks near Goodman

A Nevada man was injured when the concrete mixer he was driving was hit by a train 12:55 p.m.today on Brodie Lane, one mile north of Goodman.

According to the Highway Patrol report, a 2003 Kenworth concrete mixer driven by Christopher L. Mangum, 45, Nevada, stopped on the railroad tracks and was hit by a 2019 Kansas City Southern General Electric steam locomotive driven by Michael S. Painter, 33, Kansas City.








The intersection was marked by a crossbuck sign, but had no lights or bell.

Mangum was airlifted to Mercy Hospital, Joplin, to be treated for serious injuries.
