Prairie State Park to hold Explorer Day Camp

(From Missouri State Parks)

There are aliens among us! They have not arrived from outer space but can still cause havoc.

Visit Prairie State Park from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, July 27, to explore some of the plants and animals that have invaded our state. Learn about Emerald ash borers, wild hogs, sericea lespedeza, Japanese honeysuckle, Bradford pears and others to find out what you can do to stem the tide of these invaders.

Bring your gloves and work clothes as we will be getting our hands dirty battling some of these invasive species.

This event will fulfill the requirements for the Missouri State Parks Explorer program. A patch will be awarded at the conclusion of the days activities. Bring a lunch, snacks, and water. Wearing long pants, gloves, sturdy shoes and insect repellent is recommended. Call 417-843-6711 by July 13 to register.

Prairie State Park is located at 128 NW 150th Lane, Mindenmines, in southwest Missouri. To register or get additional information about this event please contact Prairie State Park at 417-843-6711 or all the department toll free at 800-334-6946 (voice) or 800-379-2419 (Telecommunications Device for the Deaf)
