Sci-fi authors to speak in Neosho Saturday

(From the Neosho Arts Council)

The Neosho Arts Council will be holding an author's talk with Dayton Ward and Kevin Dilmore at 2 p.m. June 22 at the Neosho Area Chamber of Commerce.

Both authors were guests at ArtCon, a pop culture convention this past February, and will be returning to Neosho to talk about their work as authors and their experience in the field, according to Sarah Serio, President of Neosho Arts Council.

“In addition to talking about the challenges and fun to be had while writing in our chosen realms, it’s also been suggested that, with the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 mission looming on our calendars, maybe Kevin and I could also devote a bit of time to talking about the symbiotic relationship that NASA and science fiction in general and Star Trek in particular have enjoyed over the years,” said Dayton Ward.

Ward, a New York Times Best Selling Author, and Dilmore have both written extensively for Star Trek plus other franchises along with original works of science fiction.

“We thought their work doing franchise tie in novels plus experience doing original work would appeal to a wide range of people,” Serio said. “Even if science fiction isn’t your favorite genre their experience with publishing and original works might be.”

“The Neosho Arts Council focuses on all the fine arts, including the written word, and this was such a great opportunity to bring two professional authors to Neosho,” Serio commented. “This will allow people to talk with authors who make their living writing and learn from them.”

Both authors will be on hand after their talk with books for sale and will be signing too. The event is free and open to the public. To learn more visitneoshoarts.net or Neosho Arts Council on Facebook.
