(From the Joplin Police Department)We want to invite everyone to come out to the Joplin Police Department at 303 E. 3rd Street on Monday, July 29th at 4:30 pm as Beyond the Call of Duty comes to town to display their rolling memorial and pay tribute to Officer Jake Reed and Corporal Ben Cooper.
They are traveling the country paying tribute to fallen officers who paid the ultimate sacrifice.
We appreciate their support and look forward to their arrival here soon.
I'd like to see the JPD pay tribute to, or at least acknowledge, their police dog Ulf. He "paid the ultimate sacrifice" when his handler left him in a hot, enclosed squad car while on a stakeout. This happend in the late 80's or early 90's and there is, strangely, no mention of it on JPD's website or any web search. Being highly trained and obedient to his handler/owner, I imagine Ulf dutifully laid still, motionless, panting and gasping, believing his handler 'had his back' and would return at any moment to save him. Let's see some tribute to Ulf - if the JPD will even acknowledge his existence whatsoever.
ReplyDeleteSo shameful, a cop can kill a dog that way and it’s just an accident how convenient.
ReplyDeleteIf a criminal shot the dog, they would be charged with death to a law enforcement. Rules for thee but not for me….
