Non-profit Higher Power Garage to be featured on Newsmakers

(From KGCS)

Amanda had lost custody of her children to a relative and the road to getting them back required a vehicle to get her to a regular job.

Transportation is a key tool for anyone who needs to work, take family members to appointments or social events especially in a community with limited public transportation options. But a local mechanic’s mission to help those struggling with the high cost of repairs or vehicle ownership, like Amanda, is finding success and changing lives. This week on Newsmakers, viewers will learn about Higher Power Garage.

Founder Mike Gideon shares his inspiration for the effort that has grown into a flourishing non-profit organization. Krissy Fuller, client manager for Higher Power Garage details how people can apply for the assistance. And client Amanda Guyette shares how receiving a low-cost vehicle and budgeting lessons have had a major impact on her life.

Newsmakers is airing nightly at 5 p.m. and 9 p.m. the week of July 14 on KGCS-TV and will air at 5:30 a.m. Saturday, July 20 on KOAM-TV. It is also posted on the station’s YouTube channel: KGCS - Missouri Southern State University.
