When Randy Turner won a Missouri Press Association award for investigative reporting in 1991, a judge said Turner reminded him of the “little guy in the barroom fight who jumps into the middle of the brawl and somehow comes out unscathed.”

If the judge was writing about Turner’s habit of going after the biggest targets and coming out on top, it’s an accurate description. In reality, a much younger man, unhappy with Turner’s reporting, only needed one punch to put the then 61-year-old on the floor in 2017.

That story and some of the others that have made the Turner Report the go-to source for news you won’t find anywhere else are in this book, including a new, never-before published investigation into the murder (or was it a murder) of 3-year-old Jayda Kyle of Carl Junction.

This book celebrates the 20th anniversary of the blog that became a voice for Joplin following the May 22, 2011 tornado and a solid source of investigative reporting for southwest Missouri.

And yes, the Turner Report runs circles around the Globe.
