(From MoDOT)

Signal, Intersection Improvements at Three Locations in Joplin Beginning Week of Aug. 5

Drivers should expect occasional lane closures and traffic delays when a project to make intersection improvements and install traffic signals and street lighting begins in Joplin the week of August 5, the Missouri Department of Transportation said.

Here is where the work will be done:

Missouri Route 43 (Main Street) and 34th Street

Add northbound right turn lane
Reconfigure center left turn lanes on Route 43 (Main Street)

Loop 49 (Range Line Road) and Jasper County Route TT (Newman Road)

Slightly widen right turn lanes
Install new street lighting

Missouri Route 43 (Main Street) and Fountain Road

Replace current traffic signals with new ones on poles and mast arms

This project also includes installing new signs and permanent striping.

Traffic Impacts

Beginning August 5, contractor will be working on shoulders and median at Route 43 (Main Street/Hearnes Boulevard) and 34th

From Monday, August 12 through Friday, August 16, contractor will CLOSE northbound Route 43 (Main Street) around the clock while crews work on storm sewers

Between 35th Street and 32nd Street, all northbound Route 43 (Main Street) lanes CLOSED

All southbound Route 43 (Main Street) lanes OPEN

Any lane closures will occur during nighttime hours, 8 p.m.-6 a.m., Monday-Friday

Once this work is complete, contractor will begin building turn lanes, installing street lighting and traffic signals (Route 43/Main Street & Fountain Road) during the rest of the project

Drivers will encounter lane closures and traffic delays for the duration of the project. Any lane closures will occur during nighttime hours

At least one lane open in each direction at all times
