Signal, Intersection Improvements at Three Locations in Joplin Beginning Week of Aug. 5
Drivers should expect occasional lane closures and traffic delays when a project to make intersection improvements and install traffic signals and street lighting begins in Joplin the week of August 5, the Missouri Department of Transportation said.
Here is where the work will be done:
Missouri Route 43 (Main Street) and 34th Street
Loop 49 (Range Line Road) and Jasper County Route TT (Newman Road)
Slightly widen right turn lanes
Install new street lighting
Missouri Route 43 (Main Street) and Fountain Road
Replace current traffic signals with new ones on poles and mast arms
This project also includes installing new signs and permanent striping.
Traffic Impacts
Beginning August 5, contractor will be working on shoulders and median at Route 43 (Main Street/Hearnes Boulevard) and 34th
From Monday, August 12 through Friday, August 16, contractor will CLOSE northbound Route 43 (Main Street) around the clock while crews work on storm sewers
Between 41st Street and 35th Street, northbound Route 43 open to local traffic only
Between 35th Street and 32nd Street, all northbound Route 43 (Main Street) lanes CLOSED
All southbound Route 43 (Main Street) lanes OPEN
Any lane closures will occur during nighttime hours, 8 p.m.-6 a.m., Monday-Friday
Once this work is complete, contractor will begin building turn lanes, installing street lighting and traffic signals (Route 43/Main Street & Fountain Road) during the rest of the project
Drivers will encounter lane closures and traffic delays for the duration of the project. Any lane closures will occur during nighttime hours
At least one lane open in each direction at all times
Signs and message boards will alert drivers approaching work zones
No signed detours
Drivers should find alternate routes around work zones
Check MoDOT’s Traveler Information Map for road closings/traffic impacts
Weather and/or construction delays will alter the work schedule.
