Four people were killed in a three-vehicle accident 2 p.m. today on MO 43, two miles north of Seneca.
According to the Highway Patrol report, the accident occurred when a 2006 Nissan SUV, driven by Zachary R. Justice, 19, Springfield, crossed the center line and hit a 2004 Chevrolet Impala driven by Tishia Brewer, 57, Goodman, head-on. The SUV rotated off the roadway, striking a 2001 Dodge pickup driven by Johnny Cash, 46, Seneca.
Both drivers were killed in the accident. Also pronounced dead at the scene by Newton County Coroner Mark Bridges were a passenger in the SUV Daniel Mazzia, 24, Springfield, and a passenger in the Chevy Impala, Charles E. Hubbard, 58, Fisk.
Another passenger in the Impala, Matthew D. Houston, 39, Goodman, was taken to Freeman West Hospital, Joplin, with serious injuries.
Cash was not injured.
The fatalities were the 24th, 25th, 26th, and 27th this year for Highway Patrol Troop D.
