The Joplin Area Habitat for Humanity will have its ReStore truck available on Thursday, May 8, and Friday, May 9, for students living in the dorms at Missouri Southern State University.
The truck will be accepting items from 2 to 3 p.m. both days in the area by Blaine Hall. It will provide a convenient way for students and staff members who are moving out to be able to recycle their furnishings. The donated items will be sold to the public through ReStore at discounted prices.
“Missouri Southern has a long history of doing some great things for Joplin Habitat in our efforts to build houses for partner families,” said Scott Clayton, executive director of the Joplin Area Habitat for Humanity. “Faculty and students have assisted on many Habitat work days on houses, during our Ten for Joplin campaign to build 10 houses for 10 families after the tornado, and Southern gave scholarships to the children of those 10 homeowners.
“We are excited to be able to continue this wonderful relationship with MSSU.”
Items accepted will include building supplies, appliances and home furnishings (no clothing or mattresses, however). Donations can also be brought to the ReStore from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday and Saturday at 5201 N. Range Line Road.
Sales at the ReStore help Habitat for Humanity provide decent, safe, affordable housing for qualified partner families.
