Two people were injured in a two-vehicle accident 9:45 a.m. today on I-49, five miles south of Joplin.
According to the Highway Patrol report, Kelsey R. Levy, 26, Fayetteville, Arkansas, driving a 1999 Chevrolet Blazer, experienced a medical condition and lost control of the vehicle, causing it to travel off the right side of the roadway.
A passenger, Bernadette A. Boothe, 47, Webb City, grabbed the steering wheel and brought the vehicle back onto the roadway, where it was struck by a 2007 Peterbilt tractor-trailer driven by Neil J. Flesher, 66, Redstone, Colorado.
Levy and Boothe were treated for minor injuries at Mercy Hospital, Joplin.
