Carthage man eludes officers, another man taken into custody afer suspicious activity at abandoned residence near Jasper

(From the Barton County Sheriff's Office)

On 04-04-2019 at around 3 a.m. The Barton County Sheriff’s Office received a complaint of suspicious activity at an abandoned residence northeast of Jasper Missouri located at 63 SE 95th Road.

Deputy Matt Griffitt responded to the residence and located one subject inside the residence and a second individual that was outside of the residence.

That second subject fled on foot into a wooded area to the south of the home. It’s believed the subject that fled is a white male with short hair or possibly a bald head in his late 30’s, approximately 5 feet 9 inches tall and approximate weight of 180 pounds.

Deputies from Barton County and Jasper County responded to the area and assisted in looking for the subject that fled, however he was not located.

The Sheriff would like if anybody see’s anybody hitchhiking or walking around the area just north of Jasper on I-49 to contact the Barton County Sheriff’s Office.

The male subject located in the residence was taken into custody without incident and transported back to the Barton County Jail and placed on a 24-hour hold for investigation.

Reports will be sent to the Barton County Prosecutor for formal filing of any criminal charges. It’s believed that the subject that fled is from the Carthage area.
