(From the Sarcoxie Police Department)

On 06-10-2019, at 2122 (9:22 pm) a Sarcoxie officer initiated a traffic stop at 14th and Miner after catching a silver Saturn doing 51mph in a 35mph on High Street. The vehicle came to a stop at 14th and Clarence.

The officer made contact with the male driver, Adrian L. Smith, 44, of Carthage, MO and female passenger Kourtney B. Wilson, 30, of Carthage, MO.

The officer could smell what he knew to be marijuana coming from the vehicle. The officer called for a second Sarcoxie officer to assist. Both occupants were asked to step out of the vehicle, and a search was conducted.

Upon searching, a baggy with a solid rock of a crystal-like substance weighing 1.1 grams, scales, baggies, 1 gram of marijuana, and prescription narcotics that did not belong to either occupant was found.

Smith was placed under arrest for possession of a controlled substance (x3), delivery of a controlled substance and driving while revoked.

Wilson was placed under arrest for possession of a controlled substance (x3), delivery of a controlled substance and an active warrant out of Joplin, MO.

Smith and Wilson were then transported to the Jasper County Jail.

Charges are pending on both subjects.

Smith and Wilson are innocent until proven guilty by the courts.
