Resurfacing work to begin in McDonald, Barry counties

(From MoDOT)

Resurfacing Project on in McDonald & Barry County Counties to Begin Week of July 15

Drivers can expect lane closures and occasional traffic delays on Missouri Route 76 in McDonald and Barry counties and Business 37 in Cassville for a resurfacing project beginning the week of July 15, the Missouri Department of Transportation said.

This is where the work is being done:

Missouri Route 76 from McDonald County Route U south of Rocky Comfort east approximately 17 miles to Missouri Route 37 in Cassville

Business 37 (Main Street) from Missouri Route 37 north of Cassville south approximately three (3) miles through town to Missouri Route 76 (5th Street)

On Route 76, contractor crews will widen the highway, add overlay of new asphalt, permanent striping, rumble strips and new guardrail in areas.

On Business 37, the contractor will remove the old driving surface and replace it with a new asphalt surface and permanent striping.

Traffic impacts

Traffic reduced to one lane where contractor crews are laying asphalt

Drivers will encounter flaggers and pilot cars where crews are working. Drivers should wait for the pilot vehicle before proceeding through the work zone or before entering the work zone from a side road.

Vehicles parked along these routes should be removed to allow the contractor to remove and replace the asphalt surface

Work on Business 37 will be done during nighttime hours (7 p.m.-7 a.m., Monday-Friday); all lanes open to traffic during daytime hours

Work on Route 76 will be done during daytime hours; all lanes open to traffic during nighttime hours

No signed detour

Drivers should find alternate routes

Signs and message boards will alert drivers approaching the work zones

Check MoDOT’s Traveler Information Map for road closings/traffic impacts

Drivers are urged to use caution as they may experience a rough ride in areas until the resurfacing project is complete.

Weather and/or scheduling delays could alter the work schedule.
