Joplin Police Department seeking public assistance on two cases

(From the Joplin Police Department)

SEEKING PUBLIC ASSISTANCE

We had a couple of cases yesterday that we are hoping to reach a witness for or get public assistance to solve.

-Wednesday at about 5:06 pm a fully marked Joplin Police SUV was parked in the 900 block of Main. The officer was inside a business handling a call for service. A witness observed an older pickup pulling a flat bed trailer strike the police car with the trailer, and then leave eastbound on 10th Street. The police car was disabled from the impact and the driver of the truck left the scene. Anyone with information or possibly if the driver didn't realize he struck the police car, please contact us at 417-623-3131 with information.

-Yesterday at 4:43 PM we responded to Deer Drive and Dove Drive for a shooting. A state worker had parked near the intersection and was working on a sign along 44, when he heard shots. An unknown person(s) in a dark color passenger car had fired numerous shots, striking his vehicle repeatedly. Nobody was injured. Anyone with any information on this case, please contact us at 417-623-3131.

Thank you in advance for any public assistance in these cases.
