Three Crowder students from Neosho inducted into National Adult Education Honor Society

(From Crowder College)

Crowder College Adult Education and Literacy Program honored three students who were inducted into the National Adult Education Honor Society (NAEHS) last month. Brook Cole, Elba Lule, and Dellana Ball, all of Neosho. Nominations were made by their instructors, Phyllis Chancellor and Leigha Layne.

Student selection is based on dependable attendance, a cooperative attitude, and work ethic. Their only obligation is to share with others what adult education has meant to them and encourage family members to take advantage of their local adult education program.

Layne spoke about Brook Cole saying, “He is a self-motivated learner. He is always willing to try something new that we do as a class on the board. Brook asks any and all questions he may have and is always diligent in completing his work. He is always on time and on task while in class.

“Elba is always polite and respectful. She comes to class on time with a smile ready to learn. Elba’s goal is to complete her HiSET and begin college in 2018. She has worked diligently toward that goal,” says Chancellor.

Layne explained why she nominated Dellana, “Dellana is a hard-working student. She is always asking about what will do together on the board. She focuses on her work and doesn’t let anything distract her. Her goals are set and she is set on completing them.

When she finishes the HiSET she is enrolling in college to study Sociology. ”

All new NAEHS members receive a letter of recommendation from their NAEHS chapter. Students should be encouraged to attach a copy of this letter when seeking employment or promotion as potential employers seek these attributes.

Neosho AEL and English as a Second Language (ESL) will be enrolling for upcoming classes. The classes are located on the Crowder College Neosho Campus, Newton Hall 300A. Call to make an appointment to enroll at 417-455-5521.
